Stunning “Cardinale” vase designed by Lino Sabattini (Correggio, Italy - 1923), manufactured by Christofle in France around 1950. This eye-catching piece is made of high quality silver plated metal and has the name of the manufacturer engraved in the bottom. The versatile and prolific Italian designer Lino Sabattini is a master creator of cutlery and tableware. Lino Sabattini became more widely known through the links he forged with Gio Ponti, who was enthusiastic about Lino Sabattini’s designs and presented his metal objects to the public in “Domus” magazine in 1956 and also organized an exhibition in Paris that same year. In 1956 Lino Sabattini became design director at the prestigious Christofle Orfèvrerie, designing metalware for them until 1963, notable for abstract organic forms.
