A SENSE OF SECURITY
You know you found a great photograph when it keeps talking to you even after the first crush, and your relationship with it evolves through time without losing your interest. Julia Scher’s photo still challenges our opinion of security and comfort: can we achieve such a state of mind giving up our senses and our possibility to speak while looking inward and accepting our own self? This picture is only partially about desire and control, more broadly it is a meditation on our needs and our power to fulfill them. Ettore Sotsass’ vase, with its hyper-symmetrical star shape, invites us to indulge in our capacity to shelter and search security through balance.
